Congo Dandies, or the members of a group called LA SAPE, are arguably the most enthusiastic fashionistas, that despite of extreme poverty, spend their life long earnings and many times even take hefty bank loans to buy the latest and most expensive dresses and other fashion accessories. All these to continue a tradition brought by the Congolese ex-servicemen who returned to the country after fighting for France during the second world war and brought the Parisian fashion to Republic of the Congo or Congo Brazzaville with them.
